Drew Willey, ceo + founder

Drew is a criminal defense attorney trained by Gideon’s Promise and devoted to reforming our indigent defense system.

Drew has garnered attention from New York Times and other media outlets for his passion to give holistic and passionate defense to all people.

Drew also has experience as an accountant in the oil and gas industry as well as a Masters Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010.

Jessica has been involved with Restoring Justice since inception, serving in her current role since September 2017.

She is committed to bringing awareness of the issues of adequate representation while still focusing on helping clients one at a time. Jessica is in Financial Reporting at Hilcorp Energy Company. Prior to joining Hilcorp in 2013, she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds a Masters and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Kristen Ueckert, Board Treasurer

Kristen has been involved with Restoring Justice since it's creation, serving in her current role since September 2017, and as Board Secretary prior.

Her heart was opened to those we serve through volunteering at the Harris County Jail mentoring women on personal financial planning. She was further amazed at the power of love in our system when she served as the first Adelphoi to a brother client.

Kristen is Senior Consultant at BKD CPAs & Advisors. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Brandi has served on the board of Restoring Justice since June 2017. Her current focus is Ambassador Recruitment.

Brandi is passionate about justice and community empowerment. She has engaged in criminal justice reform in Harris County and has also helped to implement sustainable and equitable community focused initiatives in some of the most under-resourced communities in the city of Houston.

In addition, she is an activist, community organizer, and strategist dedicated to policy and criminal justice reform and community empowerment. She is Co-founder and the Director of Strategy and Community Organizing for the Imaginoir/BLMHTX-Truth2Power Organizing Collective.

She is also an Executive Missioner for Community Organizing & Civic Engagement with projectCURATE, where she develops and leads teams of social change agents, develops curricula, trains, and consults with faith leaders and congregations on how to build effective coalitions for social movement work.

As a founding Board Member of Restoring Justice, Madison is involved with mission communications and fundraising.

Through the regular newsletter and other content, he works to humanize the needs of Restoring Justice’s clients to a broader audience, sparking curiosity in an underserved community and garner financial support.

Madison is the Land Manager for Scott Felder Homes in Austin, TX. In this capacity, he leads government interfacing and manages portfolio acquisition for the home building company in the Austin market. Originally from San Antonio, TX, Madison met his wife Katie while attending Texas A&M University. They currently live in Austin, TX with their two young daughters, where they are more likely to be found outside than in.

Niki has been serving in her current role as Director of Ambassadors since early 2017.

Her primary focuses are Ambassadorship and developing Restoring Justice’s role in providing quality mental health care to Restoring Justice clients and families.

Niki’s commitment to Restoring Justice stems from her belief in the importance of the inherent human dignity deserved of every individual and her determination to provide loving, holistic legal and clinic care to those denied this basic right.

Niki has 12 years of experience in microbiology laboratories, with a Bachelor degree from Texas A&M University. Due to the impact of Restoring Justice on her life, she has begun a recent transition to clinical psychology as a Marriage and Family Therapist master student in training at the University of Houston Clear Lake. She also works as a volunteer in the Houston area through the Order of Malta to support the marginalized of the Houston community through Catholic Charities and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Giovanni arias, Board Member

Known to us as 'Gee,' Gee leads our organization as the Executive Director.

For a number of years, Gee worked in church ministry through different capacities and roles. He most recently had been serving on our Church Advisory Board leading strategies about church partnerships.

He originally was exposed to the injustices of mass incarceration the same week he met our CEO, Drew Willey. Ever since, he has been involved with Restoring Justice through different capacities.

Gee also leads a freelance creative firm and coordinates many branding and marketing campaigns in Houston. He is a Houston native and met his wife, Jewell, at Ecclesia Houston. You will find them in the city most likely with their Goldendoodle, Roo.

matt brunt, board member

Matt has been involved with Restoring Justice since April of 2016, being one of its first clients.

He currently serves on the board with a focus on client relations.

Matt spent 10 years in TDCJ, justly serving time for a crime of which he was confessedly guilty. While there, and while living on parole and probation simultaneously, he witnessed many of the troubling inconsistencies and abuses endemic to our justice system. He serves with Restoring Justice in hopes that through Christ, positive change is possible.

Matt is a Graphic Designer at Creative Element. His real job, however, is volunteering with recovery ministries in Houston, often working face-to-face and hand-in-hand with the very people Restoring Justice endeavors to serve.
