Monique

Monique Joseph joined Restoring Justice in March 2020 as a Client Advocate and is now our Holistic Services Director. She leads our support to clients as they navigate the complexities of the criminal justice system and collaborates with the legal team on defense strategy. Monique also oversees Restoring Justice’s Healing Circles program, which strives to empower people and communities to address their needs through the restorative practice of emotional healing.

Monique’s journey in social justice work begins in her personal life. Her family’s firsthand experience of the many ways the criminal justice system tears apart families prompted her to dedicate her life to fighting this system. She is actively involved in several local advocacy organizations and often uses her voice to advocate for change in public settings like Commissioners Court or City Council meetings. Monique is a member of the Harris County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council's new Racial and Ethnic Equity Committee.

Before pursuing a career in advocacy, Monique was a phlebotomist at Houston Methodist Hospital. As a mother of three, Monique loves exploring the outdoors with her family and involving them in her social justice pursuits. Stand Up by Cynthia Erivo is Monique’s favorite song.
