Dealing with criminal charges means clients may lose their jobs and homes, it creates hardship for their families, and it affects their mental health. Using a holistic model of support, Restoring Justice steps in to take over representation of clients who are unsatisfied with their court-appointed attorneys. Restoring Justice offers every client four areas of service:
Legal Representation
Our attorneys zealously represent clients through all stages of the legal proceeding, from investigation to plea negotiations to trial or resolution of the case. The RJ legal team attorney prioritizes client-centered representation while also ensuring that their Constitutional rights are protected. Need help? Fill out our referral form.
Social Services
Our social services team connects clients with resources for employment, housing, education, ID restoration, mental health & substance abuse treatment, and transportation. Access to these resources may assist in the resolution of a client’s criminal case as well as their re-entry upon release from jail.
Community Support
Volunteers in our Adelphoi (Greek for brother or sister) program are paired one-on-one with a client with the objective of fostering a partnership of mutual respect. Adelphoi may write letters, visit clients, pray with a client if they desire, or attend events in a client’s legal case and beyond. Become an Adelphoi partner.
Counseling and Healing Circles
Our counseling partner provides clients with free trauma-informed counseling. Through Healing Circles, clients join community members to reflect on experiences in a supportive space.
We also share, at their discretion, our clients’ insights and experiences with the criminal legal system with the public to foster community advocacy and to end mass incarceration. Read more about the people we serve.
